cansu gürsu

cansu gürsu graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting in 2011 third in her class. In addition to participating in many group exhibitions at home and abroad, she was among the 20 artists selected by the Rotary Club in the "Rotary Club art competition" in 2011 and was included in their catalogue. The artist held her first solo exhibition in 2012 at galeri artist lab Ankara under the title "dinlemedeyim feza". Subsequent exhibitions followed, including "Sometimes It Happens Like That" at Maumau in 2014 and "I Was Just Leaving," again at Maumau, in 2015. Her most recent solo venture, "I Watched You Burn with Pleasure," took place at Space Debris in 2017. In her art, Gürsu delves into the complex layers of memory and identity, often drawing from the tradition of self-portraiture. Influenced by nuances of Expressionism, her technique is versatile, using mixed media on wood and canvas, and incorporating photography, collage, and painting to reflect the multifaceted aspects of human nature.
