A graduate of the Painting Department at Mimar Sinan University, where she studied under Özer Kabaş, Nalan Yırtmaç has long been deeply involved in the art world. From 2000 to 2009, she was a member of the Hafriyat art collective. Her body of work explores themes such as urban transformation, the right to the city, migration, unsolved murders, and ecocide. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Yırtmaç has a 23-year tenure as a painting and cartooning teacher.
